4 Honey
While out sailing the fog rolled in like a heavy blanket. You could only see a few feet in front of you. The winds howled and the waters rolled. Which direction was home? As you scan the horizon a beam of light flashes. As you watch it flashes again and again. There is now the reassurance of finding your way home. You know if you follow the light you will find your way.
Back in Devotion one, Milk, We learned once the light in the room was turned on the light escaped through the cracks. The light cannot be contained. You open the door and the light spills out to the next room. If that room is dark and nothing is in the way and you open the door across the room to the outside the light will go on. While you stand in the light you cannot see how far it goes. But if you go outside and walk away you will still see the light. Your eyes will be drawn to it until something blocks it. That is why coastal areas use lighthouses. Because even in the dark foggy nights the ships can still see the light and they look to it to guide them home.
When he said, “I am the light of the world whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.” He meant it for everyone in the whole world. You and me and your neighbor. He promised to give you, life, joy, love, heart, and soul for Him. The beacon in your storm. The way home to everlasting love.
Are you ready? Ready to have the light expose; lies, discontent, sin, Love, joy, peace? Are you ready to follow the light home?
Christ is the light that guides us home.
As I sail along life’s path
As I sail along life’s path
Gently rocked by the crystal sea
And comforted by the whispering wind
I thank my LORD for allowing
Me to be in His presence
And the presence of my friends
They are my crew who make
The journey more pleasing
They keep my bow headed
Towards my Lord’s ever
present beacon
When the storm clouds begin to rage
The sea tossing to and fro
My LORD calms the sea with
His hand and the encouragement
Of the friends he has given unto me.

Precious LORD, May we look for the light even in the darkest storms of our lives. May you, LORD, guide us home.
