Walk in His Light
3 Meat
Amy was young but not so innocent. She was caught doing things she should not have been doing. Once before the judge, she had no defense. But a man she did not know came in and said he would plead her case. He told the judge he would guide Amy to a better life.
He convinced the judge to let Amy go into his care. He became her rescuer.
In the John 8 passage, we read of a woman brought before the judges. Jesus is the stranger who rescues her. If we read the verse before we find Jesus, ask, “where are those who accuse you.”
She replies, “there is no one.”
Jesus has cast light on sin, and the accusers all leave.
He then tells the Pharisees He is the light and in Him, there is no darkness.
In the verse following the Pharisees’ claim Jesus lies. He tells why he is not lying. Reveling who he belongs to and those who follow him will walk in the light.
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
He that followeth me shall in nowise walk in darkness — In ignorance, wickedness, misery: but shall have the light of life – He that closely, humbly, steadily follows me, shall have the Divine light continually shining upon him, diffusing over his soul knowledge, holiness, joy, till he is guided by it to life everlasting.
This is the second of seven times we see Jesus say I am in the book of John.
Life, love, soul, heart, light, joy, eyes and all are His. It is never fading, can’t be distinguished.
Are you like the Pharisees and refuse to see the light or are you ready to walk in His light?
We are like a candle in the mirror, a reflection of his light. It is said there can be no life without light. The light brings comfort and joy. It brings the truth out into the open and relieves the burden of darkness. In other words, Jesus brings sin to light and provides us with hope.
When we reflect Him, we can’t see how far it goes, but others will be drawn to Him through our love and peace.
Precious LORD, May we be vessels for you, letting your light, your SONshine shine through us to others. Thank you for being the light and bringing us truth through your word.
