Please give a warm welcome to my special friend and Author LoRee Peery.
I am thrilled to have you here on my Lady SONshine site. Your stories and friendship never cease to bless me. Let’s jump right in. What are your most recent releases?
LoRee: Time travels Cowboy Just in Time came out July 23 and Future of My Heart August 27.
Renette: Are they related in any way?
LoRee: My editor titled them Hearts Across Time books #1 and #2
Renette: What made you want to write about time travel?
LoRee: I was convinced I couldn’t pull off a full novel set in historical time, though it was suggested I do just that. Plus, the dream and the trapdoor in the barn loft floor wouldn’t leave me alone. I had known of The Time Machine, though I don’t remember reading it. And I had seen the Back to the Future movies, but I hadn’t read time travel novels. I searched for clean cowboy time travels and found only a few during the research part of writing. Since then, I’ve read several.
Renette: Hold on, what dream? What trap door? Tell us more about what inspired these stories?
LoRee: I never remember my dreams, but years ago, I’m sure before the writing bug bit me, I dreamt I went upstairs in a big country house and opened a door. I stepped from the house onto the porch of the same house in the late 1800s, and the surrounding ranch was historical.
When I saw the barn on an acreage where my brother once lived in Washington County, Nebraska, I knew a heroine would go from that barn the way it sat into the arms of an 1890’s cowboy.
Renette: Wow, it sounds like these stories have been on your mind for a while now.
LoRee: I wrote these stories in 2014. Time travel still intrigues me. My 2019 Christmas Extravaganza novella, Hiding from Christmas, takes the heroine back in time with visions of her grandparents’ enduring love. I have ideas for a Christmas time travel again for 2021. It’s too early to tell if that will come to fruition.
Renette: Hiding From Christmas was so good. I know these will be too. Did the characters in Hearts Across Time surprise you in any way?
LoRee: In the first story, Mandy and Gavin “took it away” more than once. All I did was type. What came next wasn’t planned. Consciously, anyway. Maybe I dreamt it and forgot it. 😊
Also, once into the story, I had no idea Phoebe would want to be heard. She was the rancher’s selfish, spoiled daughter who had always planned a life with Gavin. I also didn’t know during the brainstorming phase of Future of My Heart that she’d be stalked.
Renette: I think it is so neat when GOD helps us tell the story He wants to be told. What main point do you hope the reader comes away with?
LoRee: God’s got our backs, no matter where and when we live. Life is so much more satisfying if we follow His lead and are open to growth. I always hope the Bible references in my stories are given attention. And of course, there’s the romance. I want readers to sigh with the happily-ever-after endings.
Renette: LoRee, you have blessed me so much. Thank you for joining me on Lady SONshine. I pray all my readers will grab these stories. I know I can’t wait to read them.
LoRee: Thank you so much for hosting me, Renette. Every time I see Lady SONshine, you make me smile.
Cowboy Just in Time blurb:
When event planner Amanda Totten falls through a barn trapdoor and finds herself in the arms of an 1890’s Cowboy, she scrambles to find a way back to the future. She has a life and obligations—her fledgling business and her mother’s financial needs. But the less stressful lifestyle, and her deepening love for Gavin Medley, is calling to her heart and she is torn between past and future.
Has God given her a chance at love?
Gavin Medley has been working for years to regain his family homestead. As ranch foreman, he has nothing but a dream of a place and family of his own. But his love for Amanda is making him think that having his own ranch isn’t as important as having someone to love for the rest of his life.
Amanda returns to the future, and Gavin is shattered. He tries to go forward in time, but fails. Believing it’s God’s will, Gavin resigns himself to living without the love of his life.
But love transcends time, and Amanda and Gavin need each other. Can Amanda return to her Cowboy?

Against his better judgment, he takes Phoebe home and gets her a job on the movie set.
As they explore their relationship, they discover that old wrongs need to be righted before they can move on. Phoebe’s fledgling faith demands she go back to 1891 Nebraska to ask forgiveness from her family and obligations she left behind. Nolan has to deal with his inability to trust a woman. Separated by time, both are uncertain of their lives, but they throw themselves upon God’s mercy.
