Arise and Shine
2 Bread
Isaiah 60:1 New International Version (NIV)
60 “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
Tammy and Beth meet in Drama class at their high school when the teacher paired them up for a class project. Tammy was a free spirit and a bit promiscuous. Beth was from a church-going family. The two butted heads at the beginning of the project but as the semester wore on Beth could see a small change in Tammy. When Tammy found herself in trouble she turned to Beth. Beth introduced her to her youth pastor.
Tammy was covered in darkness, like when you had the paper in front of you. Beth was that first pinhole in the paper. With time and adjustment, she began to see a small glimmer or shadow of light. Turning to Beth for help was like punching more holes in the paper. The youth pastor was adding the flashlight.
After a time, Tammy accepted the LORD. She turned on the light switch. Beth’s influence is still there and needed but now she is overtaken by the real light.
Tammy and Beth remain, friends, today and encourage and help each other dig deeper into the light.
I John 1: 5-7
5 This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Going back to the verse
John 8:12
when Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but have the light of life.”
Can you see Jesus more clearly now? Do you understand His light and yours?
Scripture is like the rock thrown in the water. If you watch closely the ripples get bigger and bigger. Our understanding gets stronger and stronger each time we read the same verse. The light in us also gets stronger and shines brighter for Him.
Jesus is the light of the world and when He is in us GOD’s SONshine shines out to others we meet.
Precious LORD, Thank You for being the light in me. May I shine brightly for you. May Your SONshine shine even brighter. Thank you, LORD, for guiding me. May I always look for your light.
